Notes To My Younger Self

You will have setbacks. A lot of setbacks. Despite the fact you’re busting your butt, doing your absolute best. When you feel disappointed, say it. If you feel discouraged and are even considering giving up, own that too. Set a time frame in your mind to process every emotion you’re feeling and when the time clock expires, shift your mindset and begin to think about how grateful you are. Start with the basics. Be thankful you woke up this morning and have the gift of another day. Go to your refrigerator, open the door and be humbled by the abundance of food and drink. Step outside and let the sunshine warm your cheeks, aware that the center of our solar system that rises and sets daily and sustains our planet without asking anything of us. Take off your shoes and walk barefoot in the grass. Let the life-force from our home energize your weary spirits. Once you feel grounded in all the natural greatness around you, sit down and be thankful for the challenge you’re facing. The one that, not so long ago, commandeered your attention and highjacked your sense of joy. If you’re open to letting go of what you thought should have happened, the difficulty will lead you to where you’re meant to be.
