There are 5280 feet in a mile.
*Note to self: When someone says, it’s only a mile away and you’re on foot, be certain to choose the shoes wisely. (Additionally, if you’re ever entertaining the thought of running a marathon, consider the fact you’ll have to run 116,160 steps on those very same feet.)
*Practical aviation fact: Tempted to join the “mile high” club? Consider your physical condition before you exert yourself. (Most commercial airline cabins are pressurized to about 6000-8000 feet. Have you been doing your cardio?)
*Impressive fact for dinner conversation: Airliners generally need at least six thousand feet of runway to land. (Slightly less than a mile and a half.)
