Notes To My Younger Self

You will cross paths with people—strangers even—who will shout at you, belittle you, disrespect you, behaving in ways that you wouldn’t consider worthy of your worst enemy. Embrace the shock, confusion and anger that is sure to follow, then remember that these individuals are emotional volcanoes. Fellow carbon emitters who are filled with scalding heat, that perpetually churns, expands and builds until the pressure inside is so intense, it can’t help but erupt. Understand that the act of lashing out at you, is not lashing out at all. It’s a brief moment of relief for them and once the eruption is over, they return to the heat, the intensity, the pressure, the discomfort that is their status quo.
