Quote of the week–The Peanuts

“Beethoven wasn’t so great…he never got his picture on bubble gum cards, did he, hum? How can you say someone is great who has never had his picture on bubble gum cards?”

–Lucy Van Pelt, A Charlie Brown Christmas.

Even though I sent a hard edit to my freelance editor this morning and feel like a rock star, any time my ego starts to swell, I remember this quote.

E.L. Chappel author of Risk/Spirit Dance/Storm Chasers

Without my picture on bubble gum cards to date

And Van Gogh never sold a painting while he was alive…The great ones just make it look easy! I believe finishing a book should give you the right to take a deep breath and smile for a day or two. Leave it to your friends to keep you and your ego in check when your books are published and your picture is on the jacket. In the meantime, let’s all savor our successes and listen to life’s amazing music- perhaps put on some Beethoven!
