Town & Country

The two following songs were written by students I recently had the pleasure of working with in Jamie Morgan’s class at Town & Country. The students got to read my story as a class, then make something to interpret the book. I want to thank Ms. Morgan and her class for portraying my story in a new light and allowing me to join in on the fun through the process!

About Town & Country:
Town & Country is Oklahoma’s only accredited, non-public, full-day program specifically designed to meet the needs of students in first through twelfth grade who have been diagnosed with learning differences and attentional disorders (ADHD). Their program focuses on every child’s positive aspects, which helps build the student’s self-esteem and motivation.

Town & Country’s mission is to improve the lives of students with learning differences by providing a nurturing environment for academic, social and personal growth.

Fly Away

(Remake of Blown Away by Carrie Underwood)

Verse 1:
Strange lightning cracks across the sky,
Those part clouds gather in their eyes,
Tana called for a blackout, and Trigger was a
Pilot on the ground, Henry had called for a big storm,
It’s going to tear it down

Bridge:
There’s not enough rain in Oklahoma
To break the sins out of that school
There’s not enough pain in Oklahoma
To rip the nails out of the room

Chorus:
Open every portal till we all just fly away
Every tear in the atmosphere fly away
Till there’s nothing left standing
Nothing else for today
Every wind-shear lightning memory fly away, fly away (echo) fly
away

Verse 2:
She heard the thunder screaming out
Her mother sat there worried on the couch
She closed the door on the airplane and
Listened to the direction of the wind
Dear Tana thought it was her dad calling
But it was really deep within

Chorus: x1

Bridge: x1

Ending: Fly away x3

Pioneer

(Remake of Treasure by Bruno Mars)

Verse 1:
Butterfly, butterfly, butterfly had an airplane
Tana’s father built it for her 16th birthday
Her father died, and she moved back to Tulsa
She went to Pioneer School and she met Trigger
(Oh Whoa-oh-oh)
I know you didn’t want it but, Trigger helped you fly (fly, oh fly)
(Oh Whoa-oh-oh)
Saraer became your mentor and she was nice, (nice, oh nice)

Refrain:
Pioneer, you’re a flying school
Located in the Treasure Desert
You can teach these kids to fly
If Tana, Trigger, and Henry just try
If Tana, Trigger, and Henry just try
Fly, fly

Verse 2:
In the war, Saraer’s dad killed Tana’s dad
Tana found out and tried to kill Saraer
Dr. Crack stops Tana just in time.
Tana runs off and she takes a pill
(Oh Whoa-oh-oh)
McDunny stops that pill, but then she’s kidnapped (then she’s
kidnapped)
Trigger runs after Tana, and beats up the bully (beats up the bully)

Refrain:
Pioneer, you’re a flying school
Located in the Treasure Desert
You can teach these kids to fly
If Tana, Trigger, and Henry just try
If Tana, Trigger, and Henry just try
Fly, fly

Special
Refrain: Tana and Trigger, Tana and Trigger
Tana and Trigger are such good friends for life.
Tana and Trigger, Tana and Trigger
Tana and Trigger are such good friends for life.

Refrain
